Technology Leaders in a Digital Age
What does it take to be a high-performing Technology Leader in today’s dynamically changing business environment? There has been a lot written about it, but having experienced the evolution of technology as a senior/executive IT leader with over 30 years in the industry, I can attest to the fact that the skillsets required to navigate and succeed in the era of "Digital Everything" are quite different from those from the past.
In the Past… I.T. Leaders Were Not Seen as Strategic Partners
The IT leader of the past was primarily focused on IT operations, infrastructure and building new technology that the market did not provide out-of-the-box. Our focus was on building processes that would ensure IT infrastructure stability and security while minimizing resources necessary to support it. Information Technology was clearly viewed as an operational expense that was a cost of doing business. In the past, business executives and departmental heads drove the IT project and investment priorities. Although considered vital to the success of the organization, IT leaders were often not viewed as strategic business partners and their team’s performance was measured on being efficient and “really good” at taking orders. Today - things are much different.
In this white paper, we'll detail 10 critical steps on how smart leaders are using technology as an agent of change.
